Flood Controls
Attempts to control rivers have increased because human technology has progressed. Humans should continue to attempt to control rivers. As it says before, human technology is progressing, and the new technology can help us control the floods happening in hopefully not harming ways. If humans have a successful attempt to control the rivers then people around the rivers wouldn’t have to wait until certain times to plant their crops. The Egyptians controlled their rivers, and with the technology we have today we should be able to successfully control rivers. If humans don’t attempt to control rivers, some farmers would only be able to plant crops one season. Thus decreasing the amount of food that we have. Another good reason for humans to control rivers is that a low flood could lead to famine and a high flood ruins irrigation works. Attempts to control rivers that won’t really harm the environment is natural levees. These are usually the first solution to the flooding problems. Comparing this to the Nile River, the Nile River didn’t have any flood control. The Nile River flooded ruining irrigation, and this wouldn’t have happened if they had flood control. As you can see, humans should use their technology to control the rivers.

What website do you believe and why?
I believe global warming facts #1 (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/12/1206_041206_global_warming.html) because global warming is not fake. Scientists can show statistics that it's real like that the temperature has climbed 1.4ºF since 1880. The other website, global warming facts #2 (http://kutwrite.hubpages.com/hub/Global-Warming-Fake-01), doesn't seem logic. They don't share as many examples as the other website. Also, global warming has been talked about for a long time. Why would they keep the lie of global warming going this long? What does it prove? This is why I believe global warming facts #1 over global warming facts #2.

Soil
About ninety-eight percent of people do not obtain most of their necessary living items from the ground.
The population has increased by three hundred percent in the last one hundred years.
It seems weird that ninety-eight percent of people buy their food from grocery stores from grocery stores and only two percent supply the food they buy for them. It doesn't seem like the two percent of people would be able to feed ninety-eight percent of people. If at least half of the ninety-eight percent of people grew something, more people would be able to be fed. I find it interesting that the population has increased by three hundred percent in the last one hundred years. With the diseases and lack of people growing food, I thought it would be less. If more people grew food, I believe the population would have increased by a lot more.
